Cascadia Trade Bloc
|
The pacific northwest economic region [Alaska/Yukon/B.C./Alberta/Washington/Oregon/Montana/Idaho] in economic terms would be the worlds 8th richest nation, with a gdp of us$848 billion[ahead of Canada @us$794,260]. If California is added, the gdp would be more than 2 trillion us$, about the size of China. Population of the new Cascadia- 3 provinces and 6 states would be plus 60 million. B.C. and Alberta are currently harmonizing rules, regulations, certifications, esp. with the trades and professions, so that, for example, an electrician with Alberta papers could move to B.C. and work, or a therapist could move to Alberta, and the certifications/qualifications would be accepted automatically as equal, without further exams or training. It is hoped that the states and provinces in the cascadia bloc will start to harmonize similarity. There is no intention to separate from either country, but harmonization might fast track work visas with the 2 federal governments. Border states and provinces would benefit workers greatly. For example, WA. state tradespeople in small towns in whatcom county[Bellingham
WA. and area] could find additional work at Vancouver BC, the largest
city in the joint area, and much closer than working in Seattle. |
